Steve Martins gives a little insight on the Broncos this year.

Last year's record:  SHL record 9W - 18L - 18PTS 7th place, overall 21-30-1

How many kids did you graduate?

We graduated a total of 8 players last season; 3 defensemen and 5 forwards. While graduating players such as SHL 1st team all league defenseman Matt Dodge and forward Parker Ritter (Team Captain) will certainly be felt, many of our younger players are expected to step up and make bigger contributions after a year on varsity last season.  Led by Juniors Jack Jones and C.J. Parisi (AHAI showcase team selection), the forwards have a good balance of speed and skill throughout the lineup.  Notable forwards include Anthony Pitti (Senior), newcomer Noah Olis (Senior) and diminutive spark plug Matt Marquis (Junior).  Both Shane McCloskey (Senior) and Alex Minow (Junior) look to rebound after injury plagued seasons.  2017-18 SHL JV Scoring Leader Nicholas Nehf (Junior) is expected to continue his offensive prowess around the net.

Who are your key returning players?

CJ Parisi (Junior Forward) - offensively gifted center with soft hands and nice touch around the net, Jack Jones (Junior Forward) - explosive speed and work ethic in all three zones, Ben Mazurek (Junior Goalie) - calm, poised, and very competitive, always giving us a chance to win games, Grant Smith (Senior Defenseman) - leads by example on every shift with tenacious effort.

Who are some new up and coming players you are counting on?

Defensemen Lukas VanNess (Junior) and Patrick Gull (Sophomore) will play prominent roles on D. At 6'5",  VanNess, brings a physical element on the back end while Gull will quarterback the power play unit with his puck moving skills and heavy shot. After leading the SHL JV in scoring, Nicholas Nehf (Junior) hopes to light the lamp often again this season with his first full season with the varsity team.

What will the style of the team be? What identity will the team have?

We hope to use our speed up front and outwork opponents.  With the tragic passing of graduating senior Luke Hutson this past summer, our players are committed to dedicating this season to his memory.  With his #20 on our all helmets, his work ethic and 'team first' attitude will certainly be a staple of our team identity this season.
