Being a freshman on a varsity squad has its challenges. Having a varsity squad with seven starting freshmen is a whole different challenge. For the Saint Viator Lions, they're going to use their freshman-packed team as an opportunity to rebuild.

"It's been a frustrating year, we're playing seven freshman but they're getting better," said head coach Chris Lapin. "They're making freshman mistakes, we're playing against a lot of good quality teams and we can't make the mistakes that we've been making."

Lapin says his team has a great attitude and while they're making mistakes there' s been some outstanding performances by the young players. Freshman Anthony Aiello is one of the leading goal-scorers.

"Coming out here against these bigger teams makes me strive to be better," said Aiello. "It gives me something to fight for. Having only three seniors and gives us something to play for, we want to play for them."

One senior, captain Adam Czamecki, has a lot of his shoulders in terms of leading the younger players to success, but his teammates have been very receptive and he sees them doing big things in the future.

"I try to set the best example I can, on and off the ice," said Czamecki. "Just show them how to work hard and keep working at it."

Saint Viator sits at No. 9 in the league with a record of 5-19-0 but remain positive about the season.

"We've had our struggles but we're keeping it going," said Lapin. "We're rebuilding here. The boys have a really good attitude and that's all we ask."
