The 2022 Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves will host the inaugural High School All-Star Face Off on Friday, Dec. 30 at Allstate Arena.

The event will pit the Scholastic Hockey League against the Chicago Catholic Hockey League in an All-Star Game and Skills Challenge.

The All-Star Game, which will feature top players from each school in the SHL and CCHL as voted on by coaches and managers of each league, will be played prior to the Wolves’ contest against the Rockford IceHogs later that night.

Doors at Allstate Arena will open at 1 p.m. and puck drop will be at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the SHL Network.

“The Wolves are excited to be working with the SHL and CCHL to be able to showcase some of the best high school talent at Allstate Arena,” Wolves Sr. Manager Partnerships Tim Weaver said. “This will give the players a unique opportunity to not only play in front of their classmates, but also thousands of Wolves fans.”

“The SHL/CCHL All-Star Game is one that many have wanted to see for years, and truly is a group effort (between) the SHL, CCHL and Wolves,” SHL President Evan Poulakidas said.

The winning league will claim the “Old Wooden Skates Trophy.”

Later that night, the SHL and CCHL will compete in a skills competition during intermissions of the Wolves-IceHogs game. Select players from each league will compete head-to-head in a 5-on-5 skater relay race for the fastest time as well as a 4-on-4 shootout between the two leagues.
