With the 2022-23 SHL season upon us, here's a preview of this year's defending state champion Stevenson Patriots:

Stevenson
Outlook:
“This year's team is very gifted on offense,” Stevenson coach Tom Wood said.  “Both the defensemen and forwards have a high level of offensive ability.  I think this is the most offensively-gifted team we have ever had.”

Varsity experience: “We are actually pretty old this year.  We have 18 seniors on this team, return 14 from last year's squad, and we have experience all over the ice.  We have a lot of guys that can put the puck in the net.  My defense and goalies are all seniors and on offense we have 3 sophomores and a junior who are all very good players.  I think this team needs to be better at the offensive blue-line and in transition from offense to defense.  We need to step up our team defense and shot-blocking in the defensive zone and our goaltending needs to play consistently if we want to repeat last year's success.”

Leadership: “Captains are 3rd-year captain Will Harlow and 1st-year captain Davis Jegers. Alternates are Zach Meyers, Ethan O'Gradney, and Dylan Jette.”

Top offensive and defensive players: “We have a lot of talent up front but Davis Jegers, Dylan Jette, and Tristan Caridei are the three that are the most dangerous any time they step on the ice.  On defense, Will Harlow returns along with Zach Meyers.  Spencer Harman has moved back to defense from forward last year and will add some offense to our blue-line.”

Goaltending: “We return Andrew Smoller who was our backup last year and we brought up Justin Alter.  Two seniors who are both capable of stealing games and making big saves.”
