What’s new in the SHL-

Carmel Indiana has become a full member both at the JV and Varsity level. This means they will play in the playoffs which brings more competition to our league. 8 out of the 10 Varsity teams will make the playoffs making each regular season game even more important.

For the varsity only we have added a 5 minute 3 on 3 Overtime. At the end of that period it will go to a sudden death shoot.  This should be more exciting for the fans.

What are the teams to watch-

The entire league is tough from top to bottom. Stevenson, Glenbrook South and York have all improved greatly. You know New Trier Green and Loyola will be formidable and Glenbrook North should be strong.  Fenwick had a terrific JV the last few years and they will be tough. Carmel Indiana as always brings a good team to the league. Barrington has great coaching and will get better as the year goes on. New Trier Blue is young and will take some lumps early but I would expect them to be a different team come November, December.

The SHL teams had some early success in some tournaments-

Yes Stevenson won their tournament and GBN beat York in the finals of the Wheaton which featured 3 out of the 4 SHL teams in the semi-finals.

The SHL Network covered games last year for the first time what are your thoughts?

I thought it was a great success our sponsors really helped out. The announcing was terrific the games were good especially the playoffs. When you add it all up we had over 30,000 views which is a great start. We want to build on that moving forward. The schedule will be coming out shortly.
